AFTER EFFECTS APPLICATION TUTORIAL
|
1. INTRODUCTION
WHAT CONSTITUTES AN AFTER EFFECTS PROJECT FILE?
If you are at this point and are not sure what an After Effects project is,
or have little experience with After Effects, please turn back!
After Effects is a motion graphics and compositing software and
only experienced After Effects users should upload their templates.
WHAT TYPES OF PROJECTS MAY I UPLOAD?
RevoStock is only looking for After Effects files with a certain level of complexity.
Simple projects only including basic After Effects functions like the resizing of shapes,
text or images, or the basic use of any After Effects effect are not complex enough to be submitted.
There are numerous examples we can give,
but basically the level of complexity must exceed the basic use or keyframing of any of the AE effects or plug-ins. Currently we accept projects created in After Effects CS5 and any version prior to CS5.
QUALITY STANDARDS
We at RevoStock pride ourselves on having some of the best After Effects templates available. We ask that
producers only upload their BEST content. We review all submissions and sub-par projects are not accepted into our system.

2. WHAT TO INCLUDE WHEN UPLOADING YOUR PROJECTS FOR SALE (ONCE YOUR APPLICATION HAS BEEN APPROVED.)
Once you are approved as a RevoStock AE Producer you will need to prepare your AE Projects in the following manner.
ZIP FILE INCLUDING
- Your Collected Project - You will need to use After Effect's "Collect Files" feature to collect your project and
all needed assets (footage, stills, etc.) into one folder. When you use the Collect Files feature After Effects will also generate a Report.txt file which you should include as well.
- Instructions - Your zip file also needs to include a readme.txt or readme.html instruction file (in addition to your Report.txt file.) Make sure your
file is named readme.txt or readme.html or our system will not recognize it.
- Alternate Versions of the Project - If your project uses external plug-ins, we recommend including a secondary project
that uses rendered videos of the plug-in sections. If you wish to do this, you would want to include a secondary project without
any use of plug-ins.
PREVIEW/SAMPLE VIDEO FILE
You will need to include a Quicktime MPEG4 or H.264 sample video of your rendered out project. This video will be used on our website as the preview for your project. If your project includes multiple compositions, you may include each rendering back to back to show the various options included in the file. For your sample video, you may use custom fonts to show what the project could look like. Your sample video should be the same size as the highest resolution offered in your template. For 1920X1080, you may upload a 1920X1080 OR 1280X720 sized sample video. Please don't include the preview/sample video in your zip file (NOTE: DO include the preview video in your zip file as part of this producer application. However, once you are approved as a Revo producer, you no longer need to do include the preview video in the zip file.)
Images and Videos used in your Preview Video:
- Images and Videos used in your sample file must have either been created by you or you have the correct licenses or permissions to use the images or videos in your sample preview video and permission to post these images and videos on our website.
- You may not use any photos or videos downloaded off of the internet unless you have purchased or have been granted the rights to use them.
- If you are using stock photos or videos you are fully responsible for ensuring that the license purchased does allow for this type of usage.
- If we are contacted about any copyright infringement concerning your sample videos it will mean immediate removal of the After Effects Project and potentially the removal of all of your After Effects projects as well as the potential termination of your RevoStock account.
- Text Labels: In your preview video, it is very important that you clearly communicate to your potential buyer exactly what is editable. You should do this by labeling your text using phrases like "Text 1 Here" or "Your Text Here" or "Some Cool Text Here."
- Video/Placeholder Labels: In your preview video, it is very important that you clearly communicate to your potential buyer exactly what photo/video items are replaceable. Ideally, you want to lable your video placeholders somehow noting "Video 1" or "Video 1 Here" or "Your Photo/Video Here." This will clearly communicate to your potential buyer which video or photo spots are meant to be replaced with their own content.
STILL IMAGE
You will need to upload a still frame from your file that will be used as a high-res watermarked still for download and will also be resized and used as your project's thumbnail image. The still image you upload needs to be the same size/resolution as the largest project resolution included in your file. For instance, if the larges composition included in your project is 1920X1080, you should upload a 1920X1080 JPG image (high quality.) Projects/images should not exceed 1920X1080 pixels.
MODEL OR PROPERTY RELEASE
If your project uses any photos or videos that require a property or model release, you should include this as well during the upload process. Please do not include these in your zip file. See details below in the Model/Property release section.
USING VIDEO IN YOUR PROJECT
If you are including video in your project, please encode that video using the Quicktime H.264, PhotoJPEG, MotionJPEG or Quicktime DV Codec. If your videos require an alpha channel, you may use the Animation or PNG codec as well. Please only use this when necessary because of the large file sizes these codecs create.
|
What resolution should I use?
We recommend creating an HD sized project (1920X1080) but
then, take that project and create other comps within the project in different resolutions. This will make your project the most accesible
and make it possible for your buyer to easily render out their preferred resolution.
|
|
Include a preview/sample video in your application zip file, but not after you are approved: Uploading your 2-3 sample projects for us to review as part of your application is slightly different from the process above. For your 2-3 application samples, you must include a rendered sample/preview video in your zip file, but you do not need to include this in your zipped files once your application is approved.

Your work must be original. You may not download projects/templates from other websites, modify them and upload them to sell at RevoStock. Additionally, you may not download
tutorials from other After Effects websites and upload them to RevoStock for sale even if modified.

|

Any assets used in your project may NOT contain any recognizable logo, advertisement, copyrighted graphics, images or artwork.
MODEL RELEASES
If your project includes video you have shot which includes a model, it must be accompanied by a signed model release. When you upload your footage you will have the chance to upload your model release. Print out the model release, have it filled out and signed. Then scan it, or take a picture of it and upload it when you submit your footage using our model release page.
If the person is a minor, you must have a parent or guardian sign the release.

|
Can I, or should I include music in my sample video or project file?
If the music was fully created by you, you may include it in your project file. You may include music you have appropriately licensed in your
sample video, but you may not post links to 3rd party websites. We recommend using RevoStock music in your sample videos and then pointing buyers to
the music file on our website in your project description. If you need help getting in touch with any of our RevoStock audio producers, let us know.
